Follow Spot, a young salamander as he approaches his third birthday. He will soon be mature enough to travel across the road to the pond where he was born. This story explains the spring migration of yellow spotted salamanders to the vernal pools where they were born. Once in the pool, they look for mates and if successful, the females lay eggs. But getting to the vernal pool is often a perilous journey and the salamanders must dodge predators, cars, and other hazards along the way.
